Current Class Overview & Description:
Beginning Japanese 1 - $89 per person. 90min a week for 6 weeks
This course is best for those who have little to no experience with Japanese. In this Beginning Class you will learn how to read and write Hiragana as well as form basic sentences using beginning grammar. This class also focuses on creating conversational skills in Japanese. (Equivalent to Chapter 1 from the Genki Textbook)
Beginning Japanese 2 - $89 per person. 90min a week for 6 weeks
Continuing from Beginning Japanese 1, this course teaches those with knowledge of Hiragana the next step of learning the Katakana alphabet. In addition, students in this class students will learn more complex grammar patterns and beginning phrases related to everyday life in Japan. (Equivalent to chapter 2 from the Genki Textbook)
Beginning Japanese 3 - $89 per person. 90min a week for 6 weeks
This class covers beginning kanji, verb conjugations, and complex grammar structures in Japanese. Students will practice creating original sentences and communicating in Japanese. In this class, instruction is given in both English and Japanese. Students will be expected to have proficiency in both Hiragana and Katakana characters. (Equivalent to chapters 3 - 5 of the Genki Textbook)
Beginning Japanese Crash Course - $59 per person. 2 hours a week for 3 weeks
This fast-paced class introduces you to Beginner Japanese vocabulary and phrases and equips you with the basic knowledge of Japanese. Students will learn survival Japanese useful for traveling to Japan or starting a basic conversation in Japanese. In this class reading and writing is not taught.
Intermediate Japanese Crash Course - $59 per person. 2 hours a week for 3 weeks
As an intermediate course, students will mainly focus on reading comprehension and public speaking in Japanese for three weeks. Instruction in this class will be mainly in Japanese with little spoken English. Hiragana and Katakana proficiency are required. Japanese Printmaking Workshop - $49 per person. 2 hours for a 1 day workshop
Japanese printmaking or 'hanga' is a traditional form of printmaking in Japan. In this 2 hour workshop students will learn about the history of printmaking in Japan and create their own prints to take home. Materials are provided in the class and all students will receive guided instruction on how to plan, carve, and ink their designs. (This class is taught entirely in English)
Japanese Calligraphy Workshop - $49 per person. 2 hours for a 1 day workshop
No Japanese required! Taking this calligraphy class will show you the basic skills of creating stunning calligraphy art in both English and Japanese. Focus your mind and hone your skill in the art of the brush with the help of skilled Japanese Instructors. All materials are provided, but students are welcome to bring their own brushes and paper. (This class is taught in English)
Japanese Lantern Making Workshop - $49 per person. 2 hours for a 1 day workshop
Have you ever wanted to learn how to construct your own paper lanterns? In this hands-on class, you can learn the art of paper lantern making and create illuminating pieces of decor for your own home. Using the materials in this class students will make three different lanterns of various shapes, sizes, and colors. (This class is taught in English)
